Address, Telephone, or Email Changes: If you move or change your home or work telephone number, mailing address, or email address, please notify the Temple office. Much of our mail is sent bulk, and therefore, cannot be forwarded. In addition, we are charged when the mail is returned to the Temple.
Chadashot (Our Newsletter): The website, the Chadashot and the listserv are the Temple’s methods for keeping our community informed. The Chadashot should reach your home by the first of the month. Deadlines for the publications are the 30th of the month prior to publication for the Chadashot. We encourage you to announce family simchas -- this can be done by sending the information to the Temple office before the deadline.
Fee Policy: Member families are responsible for all fees set by the Temple Board of Directors and passed by the general membership. Fees are billed monthly, on a ten month basis, from July through April. Bills must be paid on schedule unless alternative arrangements are made with the Financial Secretary. In order to enroll children in Religious School, to schedule and celebrate a simcha (Bar/Bat Mitzvah, Confirmation, wedding, etc.) at the Temple, to receive High Holy Days tickets, or to have voting privileges at congregational meetings, a congregant must be current in all financial obligations. School enrollment is considered tentative until payment is received for the first billing cycle.
Life-Cycle Events: Please notify the Temple of births, illnesses, deaths, marriages, divorces, etc. so we can respond to the needs of our congregants.
ListServ: The Temple's weekly listserv is sent on Thursdays to all members who have provided email addresses. The listserv announces services, events, and congregational and community happenings. Please contact Betsy Sill at the Temple office to be added to the list. Please keep the office informed of email address changes.
Membership Status: Membership categories are in effect for the entire fiscal year -- your category as of July 1 continues until June 30. To change your type of membership for the next fiscal year, e.g., Single Household to Household, you must notify the Temple. Resignations must be placed in writing -- we consider you a member and will continue to bill you until you notify us officially in writing.
School Closings: The Nursery and Religious Schools follow the Montgomery County Public School (MCPS) schedule except that our schools are open on MCPS's half days. If MCPS closes for inclement weather, our schools are closed. If MCPS have a delayed opening (however long), the Nursery School opens one hour late; the Religious School meets on schedule. If MCPS close early or cancel evening or weekend programming, our schools are closed. Closings are announced on the following radio stations: WTOP and WMAL. A message is also announced on the Temple’s answering system; however, the system can only handle a few calls at a time, so please be patient. Also, note the green/red light indicators on the home page.
Telephones: When you call the main numbers for the office, Religious School, or Nursery School during office hours, your call will be answered and immediately put through to the proper person. If that person is unavailable, the call will be directed to that person's voicemail. For calls received when the office is closed, there is a listing on the message for staff extensions or you may refer to the list in the directory.
